Biggest Defensive Play of the Modern Era - Second round of the 1984 4A playoffs against UMS Wright of Mobile. After TRM failed to score on 4 downs with the first possession in overtime UMS had the ball on the 4 yard line on 4th down. Instead of kicking the field goal and winning by 3 UMS decides to go for the touchdown. When the ball is snapped backside linebacker Rodger Jones scrapes across the line to make the hit as the runner is crossing the goal line. This hit caused the ball to pop out and defensive back David Brittain recovers the fumble in the end zone. This recovery allowed Miller to play another round of overtime and get the victory. This single play allowed the Tigers to win the 1984 State Championship and several others over the year to come. Without this play there is no telling what the story would be on T.R. Miller today. Below is the actual game footage from 1984. Enjoy!
