For the first time since 1973, T.R. Miller will take the field to play Atmore without Donnie Rotch at the game. He coached in many of these games and understood how hard it was to defeat Atmore. Most know him as an outstanding principal and the many comments about his dedication and love for T.R. Miller are absolutely true. I had the pleasure of coaching with him for six years. I could take up a lot of space describing his greatness as a coach for he had all the attributes of the greatest coaches. But most of all I always admired his ability to get his offensive line to play for him! As much as they loved their school, his offensive line played at such a high level because they believed he could teach them, motivate them and solve their problems. And he did for 18 years. When he said it was time to go...they went. When he said we have to do this to win, they did it. No matter how hard the assignment was that he presented them, his players had complete confidence in him. Even when they had no confidence in themselves. The true test of greatness in a football coach is simply his ability to get his players to play for him! No coach I have ever seen did it any better.
